An Arizonian Weekend
My best friend , Audra, and I have tried to do a girls weekend trip every year since we graduated high school (because girl time is always necessary). So far we have gone to Denver, CO, Nashville, TN, and this year’s trip ended up being in Phoenix, AZ! We took a chance and planned it towards the end of my first trimester, praying that I wouldn’t be sick! Besides an uncomfortable bloat and some aching I did pretty well. My husband and I recently had some friends move to the Phoenix area and had extended an invitation to come visit whenever, so just a few months after settling into their new home, we were knocking on their front door (beware- I take invitations very seriously). Part of the agreement in us staying in their home was that Blake had to come along and visit as well, so he enjoyed a girls weekend too! Audra and I certainly didn’t mind having a handsome man to drive us around and carry the credit card (hello no purses ALL weekend!). Here are just a few things that we filled out weekend with:
-Late night In and Out Burger
-Poolside hangs with the family we stayed with
-Breakfast at Snooze in downtown Gilbert
-Farmers Market in downtown Gilbert
-Tacos at Joyride Taco House East
-Dinner at The Farm Grill in Gilbert, AZ
-Photos in Agritopia Community Gardens
-Hiking (didn’t last too long with the dry heat and first trimester pregnant woman!)
-Photos at San Tan Mountain Regional Park
-Dinner at San Tan Flat
I have to be intentional while I am on vacations about being present and enjoying myself. Sometimes this means to bring my camera along, other times it means leaving it in the car! So while not all of our trip was captured, it was worth it to not have to lug around my camera and get stuck behind the lens. But of COURSE I brought it along to some pretty stunning locations. Here are some favorites from our weekend getaway!
Side note: You might notice me cupping my “bump” in some of these photos, I was 12 weeks pregnant and thought that I was showing more than the average woman at that stage? Now that I am in my third trimester and am finally sitting down to write this, I laugh out loud at how I thought my little baby bloat was a baby bump. The more ya know!
