If I could sum up this family shoot in one word it would be ENERGY. There was a so much fun energy and craziness going on with a 2 year old, infant, pup, and their desire to run around in wide open spaces. Soooo we let them run. A lot. What better way to capture a day in the life of the Stoll family then to let the little ones run the show? Parenthood, right?! It was perfect! Oh this one was SWEET. These two have been together for 2 years and this was their first time ever having photos done (cue my praise hands)! Gabby is from LA and Jon was raised in small town Mount Pulaski, and the two of them together, along with their dream of a pup, Blur, are the cutest pair. We ran around Jon’s family’s bean farm while they told me about their relationship. I couldn’t have asked for a better evening (also it helps that I drove home with a cornfield sunset and Taylor Swift turned up LOUD).

These two put on a timeless denim and black tee outfit and killed their couples session. We had beautiful summer weather and laughed together until sunset! Blake and I have known Kody for years and it has been so cool watching him grow into an awesome guy, not to mention meeting his sweetie, Mady! They may or may not have gotten their session photos within 48 hours of our shoot… can you tell I was excited?!

Lauren reached out to me after her and her fiance had to rearrange their wedding due to the pandemic. Not letting Covid rain on their parade, they went ahead and tied the knot before lockdown in their local courthouse! Lauren talked about her vision of having an intimate gathering with their closest friends and family later that summer, and as someone that is passionate about documenting special moments, I was so excited to be there! We found a beautiful botanical garden (Luthy Botanical Center) in Peoria for a first look and portraits, and then hopped in a slick black convertible to head to a house party! The simplicity of the day was truly inspiring. I loved every second of it!

I’m embarrassed to say that both Brenna and I had pretty awful cases of poison ivy after this session… but ya know what? She said it was TOTALLY worth it to get these sweet photos of the two of them! Thank goodness. I had been to this private property for a previous shoot in the late spring, but had the grasses had grown a crazy amount, which made for a pretty magical look (and 9 days on oral steroids to kick the itch!). Brenna and Will were absolute troopers because it was a hot one, but I am telling you they WORKED the camera.

Heidi contacted me wanting photos in her home of her family of 3 crazy cute boys. We set a date for the end of October in 2019, but unfortunately had to postbone because I ended up having my son almost 3 weeks early! It worked out though, because it turns out Heidi was pregnant with her fourth boy! We rescheduled her shoot to be a welcome party for her new son, Will. I joined the family in their home one morning and captured more personality than I could have imagined! Each one of their boys were so adorable in their own little ways, and it was clear that they were already in love with their baby brother. I had a super hard time choosing a favorite from this session! Heidi and Tanner’s beautiful home and family almost made it TOO easy.

On October 29th (about 3 weeks before my due date) Blake and I had settled in for the night after a dinner out with my family where we ate waaay too much food. It was 10 pm, we were watching a show and I was slowly drifting. All of a sudden I felt an unfamiliar rush, like I had accidentally gone to the bathroom. I groaned and slowly got up, thinking to myself “Oh the joys of pregnancy! Can’t even tell when I need to pee”. We chatted about how we were decorating the nursery, planned future play dates, and both being photographers, we became photogra-friends. This was a fun one! Makenna and I were BEST FRIENDS in middle school. Like the kind that were attached at the hip, you didn’t find one of us without the other! In fact, she brought a letter that we had written to our “future self” at a sleepover when were in 6th grade to the session and we had a good laugh. Anyways, she found a great guy. Maternity sessions are always special for me. There are so many emotions, so much excitement and anticipation, but for this couple these photos seemed even more precious. Karen and Adam had been praying to grow there family for as long as I have known them, and finally this spring their prayers were answered with the sweetest baby girl! Karen was glowing and Adam would stop every few minutes to take a photo of her on his phone, saying “she just looks so beautiful!”. Dang right, Adam.

The word is out! Blake and I are having a son! I don’t think we knew how badly we wanted a boy until I opened up an envelope to read the sex in our living room. Our hearts were pounding! Why were we nervous?! I saw the words “It’s a boy!” on the ultrasound and immediately brought my hand to my mouth in disbelief.
